FDA plans to issue emergency authorization of ‘Remdesivir’ as COVID-19 treatment Updated: 2020-04-30 14:25:59 KST

'Remdesivir' has reportedly shown positive signs as a treatment for COVID-19.
Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr Anthony Fauci, said patients who took the medication used for Ebola, showed a 31-percent faster recovery rate than those taking a placebo during a clinical trial.
According to the New York Times, the FDA will announce emergency authorization of Remdesivirmeaning physicians will be able to use it before being officially approved.
However, reportedly, the treatment has never been approved for any disease and the results of a clinical trial held in Africa for Ebola were disappointing.
