South Korea's consumer inflation came to 1 percent last month, the third month in a row it's been at or above that level, despite the coronavirus outbreak.
Statistics Korea said prices did not fall as much as forecast because the outbreak caused prices to both rise and fall in different sectors.
The outbreak, for instance, raised demand for food.
The prices of agricultural and fisheries products rose six.seven percent on-year.
And the prices of industrial goods, gas, water and electricity also went up.
But weak growth and plunging oil prices were sources of downward pressure.
