U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Americans to expect a "very very painful two weeks."
This, after his team of health experts predicted up to 240-thousand coronavirus deaths in the country.
During a two-hour briefing Tuesday, President Trump defended his handling of the outbreak early on but said, he wants every American to be prepared for the hard, painful days ahead.
Doctor Deborah Birx, the country's top public health official coordinating the U.S. COVID-19 task force, said, the United States could see between 100-thousand and 240-thousand deaths even if nationwide social distancing measures remain in place.
The COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. surpassed 38-hundred on Tuesday, topping China's reported count.
