S. Korean medical firms to donate 1.5 mil. safe syringes amid COVID-19 pandemic Updated: 2020-03-29 14:13:05 KST

A truck carrying 100-thousand syringes has arrived in Daegu, …the city worst hit by COVID-19.
The syringes donated to the Daegu Medical Association are safe syringes with needles that automatically retract.
They help healthcare providers prevent infections and eliminate syringe re-usage.

"Thanks very much for sending these medical items when times are hard for everyone. We will spread the warmth and do our best to overcome the disease by delivering the items to those on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19."

There are plans to send 400-thousand more syringes to Daegu and 500-thousand more to the Gyeongsangbuk-do Medical Association.
And an additional 500-thousand will be sent to other areas with high numbers of COVID-19 patients.

"Healthcare workers on site are going into the intensive care unit and safe syringes help prevent infection. Since there are coronavirus infections all over Daegu, I thought maybe we could deliver the syringes to keep healthcare workers safe."

Many other pharmaceutical companies have also been sending their products to medical teams in Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province to help those areas overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.
