President Moon Jae-in visited one of Seoul's most famous landmarks today Namdaemun Market to encourage the merchants there and reassure the public amid concerns over the coronavirus outbreak.
He also held a luncheon meeting with small business owners to hear about their difficulties amid a slump in visitors and he promised support for them.
The government plans to provide financial or market support so that traditional markets, merchants, the self-employed and tourism-related companies can overcome the difficulties they're facing.
Moon also took the opportunity at the market to buy local food products.
The president has recently been filling his schedule with economy-related agenda reflecting the government's determination to minimize the economic fallout.
Moon has urged the people not to take on excessive concern, saying that they can carry on with their daily lives, especially economic activities, as the government is putting in all efforts to tackle the outbreak.
