S. Korea to keep 513% tariff on rice imports from 5 countries Updated: 2020-01-28 14:52:47 KST

After five long years of negotiations, South Korea will be allowed to keep its tariff on imported rice of over 5-hundred percent.
That'll apply to five countries China, the U.S., Vietnam, Thailand and Australia.
South Korea's agriculture ministry announced on Tuesday that the World Trade Organization issued a certificate last Friday approving the tariff.
Korea first imposed it in 2014, but its trading partners later the same year filed a complaint with the WTO.
But as of last November, they had resolved the issue and sent letters to notify the WTO to that effect.
