Nepal deploys soldiers in search for missing S. Korean trekkers Updated: 2020-01-21 17:17:34 KST

Nepal has deployed its army special forces to help in the search for four South Korean hikers and their Nepali guides who've been lost in the Himalayas since an avalanche occured last Friday.
According to a Nepali official, a helicopter Tuesday morning carried nine special forces soldiers to the site of the avalanche on Mount Annapurna.
The search had been suspended over the weekend due to bad weather.
It still hasn't cleared up, though, so about 50 other personnel from Nepal and Korea remain on standby.
The missing South Koreans were in Nepal as part of a teachers' volunteer group working with local children.
