S. Korea spared short-term impact from Middle East tensions: Finance minister Updated: 2020-01-10 16:16:46 KST

South Korea's Finance Minister Hong Nam-ki says the heightened tensions in the Middle East will have no direct impact on the nation in the short term.
Speaking at a meeting with economy-related ministers today, Hong said local financial markets are showing signs of stability as the U.S. and Iran back away from a potential military conflict.
While noting that uncertainties remain, the minister said the government will take action if necessary and pledged to hold meetings regularly to closely monitor the situation until the crisis subsides.
