The U.S. car market shrank slightly last year, but sales by Korean carmakers Hyundai and Kia continued to increase.
In the U.S. last year, the two companies sold a combined total of more than 1.3 million units.
For Hyundai, that was an on-year rise of 4.7 percent, and for Kia an increase of 4.4 percent.
That growth was led by SUV sales.
The U.S. auto market as a whole shrank by 1.2 percent last year.
Toyota suffered an almost two percent drop in U.S. sales, and Volkswagen only managed to increase sales by 2.4 percent.
