Japanese PM Abe to meet S. Korean President Moon in December Updated: 2019-12-14 15:48:13 KST

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe says he will sit down with President Moon Jae-in for a one-on-one later this month, on the sidelines of the South Korea-Japan-China trilateral summit set for December 24th.
The Japanese government announced on Saturday that Prime Minister Abe had mentioned plans to hold face-to-face talks with President Moon, and expressed his determination to find a diplomatic breakthrough.
South Korea's Blue House also said that the two sides are currently in the process of arranging their leaders' schedule for a meeting.
For the past five months, tensions have heightened between Seoul and Tokyo over a trade dispute stemming from their long-standing historical issues.
