Italy declares state of emergency in flood-ravaged Venice Updated: 2019-11-15 16:40:16 KST

Italy has has declared a state of emergency in Venice after the city was ravaged by severe floods.
The decision came after a cabinet meeting on Thursday to provide 22 million U.S. dollars in funding to help Venice recover.
The city was engulfed by high water levels reaching almost 190 centimeters on Tuesday, the second highest water level ever recorded there.
The floods swallowed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has left at least two people dead.
