Soon, South Korean cosmetics companies will no longer be allowed to label their products as treatments for the skin condition atopy.
There have been concerns among researchers that consumers with atopy use those products in lieu of seeking medical treatment.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said Wednesday that it plans to implement the law next year.
However, it will still allow labels for products meant to treat hair loss and acne.
The new change will also add labels for products aimed at whitening, wrinkle treatment, sun protection, hair loss treatment, acne treatment, and moisturizing atopic skin.
