Top court upholds Asiana's 45-day flight ban to San Francisco for 2013 crash Updated: 2019-10-17 17:22:06 KST

South Korea's Supreme Court has upheld a government order on Asiana Airlines to suspend its flights to San Francisco for 45 days by next February.
The ban was ordered after a deadly crash in San Francisco six years ago.
The airline had sought a court injunction against the measure, but the Supreme Court sided with the transport ministry, saying the accident was caused mainly by insufficient staff training.
Asiana hasn't yet announced when it will stop the flights, but the suspension is expected to the cost the debt-ridden carrier roughly nine million dollars.
