Protecting Hangeul was itself an independence movement when Korea was under Japan's colonial rule.
In a social media message commemorating Hangeul Day, President Moon Jae-in explained that having our own language was what allowed the nation to achieve industrialization and democratization.
He also expressed great pride in how the Korean alphabet is attracting interest from foreign learners.
The South Korean leader emphasized, Hangeul is Seoul's connection to the world, underscoring the fact that numerous students are enrolled in Hangeul classes in some one hundred-80 Sejong Institutes across the globe.
