The latest entry in the Marvel franchise, "Avengers: End Game," has claimed the crown as Korea's fastest-selling foreign box office hit, a title that had belonged for 10 years to the movie Avatar.
Walt Disney Company Korea says that as of noon on Sunday, the number of tickets sold for the Marvel epic came to 13.3-9 million in the fourth weekend of its release.
The previous record set by Avatar in 2009 was 13.3-3 million.
Pre-bookings for the fourth Avengers movie also hit an unprecedented 2.3 million tickets; sales on opening day were one.three million; and average daily sales were one.six million tickets.
According to movie theatre chain Lotte Cinema, some seven percent of the tickets were sold to people who watched the movie more than once.
