At 101 years of age, the oldest Nazi criminal to ever stand trial in a German court was found guilty on Tuesday of aiding and abetting the murders of around 3,500 people.
Named "Josef S" during proceedings, in accordance with German privacy laws, the former SS Guard was handed a five year prison sentence for being complicit in the shooting of Soviet prisoners of war and the gassing of other prisoners to death.
The former guard worked at Sachsenhausen concentration camp for 3 years during the Second World War, overseeing a facility that saw tens of thousands die from medical experiments, forced labor, murder, and starvation.
