The World Health Organization has released a grim report on COVID-19.
The WHO estimates 80 to 180-thousand healthcare workers may have died due to complications stemming from the virus from January 2020 to May this year.
This figure shows the growing vaccine discrepancy between low and high-income countries.
Eight in 10 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in high-income countries, but that figure is fewer than one in 10 in Africa.
A senior WHO official warned this could cause the pandemic to drag into next year, and it's imperative vaccines reach health workers in low-income countries.
