South Korea's ambassador to the U.S. says the allies are working closely to restart the Korean Peninsula peace process.
At an annual parliamentary audit Wednesday, Lee Soo-hyuck said Seoul and Washington are discussing ways to "create a favorable condition for talks with North Korea" including by possibly providing humanitarian aid.
He also said the U.S. understands the "rational purpose" behind seeking a formal end to the Korean War.
That was proposed last month by President Moon Jae-in during the UN General Assembly.
