Trade officials from the U.S. and China reportedly held "constructive" talks over the phone for the first time in two weeks.
China's Xinhua News Agency said Sunday that Vice Premier Liu He spoke on the phone with U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin the day before.
The officials discussed core issues regarding the first phase of their initial trade agreement and vowed to maintain close contact.
The two countries have been aiming to end their now 16-month trade dispute, which has rattled financial markets and the global economy.
