IAEA chief inspects Fukushima Daiichi plant

Over in Japan.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency is pledging to ensure a safe and transparent operation with regard to the Japanese government's plans to release radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea.
Director General Rafael Grossi is currently in Japan and on Thursday he inspected reactor decommissioning procedures and the storage of the treated radioactive water and has claimed that all activities as of now are in full compliance with IAEA safety standards.
The planned discharge of the Fukushima water is expected to begin around next spring.
