First Lady Kim Jung-sook, who is also in Dubai accompanying her husband, has expressed hope for deeper cultural exchanges between South Korea and the UAE.
She visited the Mohammed Bin Rashid Library the largest library in the Middle East on Sunday to donate some 250 Korean books ahead of its opening this year.
"Thanks to the Hallyu boom, there's international interest on Korean content. I hope the MBR Library, the largest in the Middle East becomes a hub for spreading Korean culture, which resonates with humankinds' efforts to promote the value of common good."
Among the books donated was the Hunminjeongeum Haeryebon a manuscript of the Korean writing system formed of 28 letters created by King Sejong the Great in the 15th century.
The MBR library and the National Library of Korea also signed an MOU to bolster their cooperation going forward.
