'Squid Game' frenzy boosts Netflix's Q3 subscriber growth

Amid the surging global interest in its Korean killer content "Squid Game", Netflix has gained more new subscribers than expected.
Netflix said Tuesday that the streaming giant has added 4.4 million new subscribers in the third quarter, and now has a more than 2-hundred-13 million in total worldwide.
Those third-quarter figures smashed not only the company's expectations but also those of industry watchers.
Netflix also posted quarterly sales of 7.5 billion U.S. dollars up 16 percent on-year to meet market expectations.
The company also forecast, that it will add a further 8.5 million subscribers in the next quarter to reach 2-hundred-22 million overall.

"We have so much content coming in Q4 like we've never had, so we'll have to feel our way through and it rolls into a great next year also."

"Squid Game", released in September was undoubtedly a huge contributor in spurring the drive, becoming the streaming service's biggest-ever original show.
The company said, some 1-hundred-42 million households watched the show during the first four weeks of its release.
Tuesday's bumper figures come after Netflix had two sluggish quarters earlier in the year.
While the company saw a subscriber boom in 2020 with the pandemic keeping viewers at home, growth began to stall in the first half of 2021.
The emergence of competitors like Disney+ has also eaten into its potential customers.
Overturning the decline with the help of Squid Game, Netflix seems to be somewhat back on the right track.
Saying that its goal is to give viewers an even greater choice of stories to enjoy,.. Netflix wrote in its letter to investors on Tuesday that "There is no better example of this than 'Squid Game.'"
