U.S. Director of National Intelligence, Avril Haines, who's in South Korea, sat down on Monday with Seoul's top security official to discuss North Korea.
Haines met privately with Suh Hoon, President Moon Jae-in's top security advisor for discussions on the current situation on the Korean Peninsula as well as ways to further bolster the South Korea-U.S. alliance.
They reportedly exchanged their assessments of the security situation on the Korean Peninsula, following the regime's recent missile launches.
Watchers say Japan's intelligence chief could join them for more discussions in the coming hours.
