For the first half of this year, South Korea has reported an all-time high trade surplus in intellectual property.
Preliminary data from the Bank of Korea on Friday show that the trade balance in IP came to 850 million U.S. dollars, the most on a semi-annual basis since 2010, when the figure was first compiled.
The BOK attributed the rise to exports of art and culture… like the K-pop group BTS and the movie Space Sweepers.
IP exports were up more than 40 percent in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year… mainly on music and video content.
