The U.S. has reiterated that it wants to see the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
In a phone briefing, an official from the U.S. State Department said Washington is open to dialogue with Pyeongyang to encourage the North to abandon its stockpile of nuclear weapons.
However, the official refrained from providing an exact position on where the U.S. stands on President Moon's specific proposal at the UN General Assembly.
