President Moon sent a special message for citizens as the country celebrates Chuseok, promising South Korea will gradually return to normal life.
It was pre-recorded inside Air Force One before departing for New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
"Fellow South Koreans, I will be attending the UN General Assembly again this Chuseok. Before leaving for New York, I send my greetings from my seat on the plane. It's hard to say have a good holiday as there are many people suffering difficulties. I hope you can encourage each other during this Chuseok."
"With warm hearts and words of support, love will get bigger. Although it may not be the same as years gone by, I hope everyone has a fun and wonderful time, hoping for a brighter tomorrow."
"We have been able to slightly ease concern with 70 percent of people getting their first shots, as promised. By next month, the vaccination completion rate will lead others, and we will gradually return to normal life. Therefore, I ask you to endure a little longer despite the difficulty."
"I believe that our love for our families and neighbors sped up the vaccinations. It is still a difficult situation, but I wish we trust our families and share with our neighbors."
"Fellow Koreans, the full moon listens to our wishes. We wish for the health and safety of each and every one. I will return with more hope after the UN General Assembly."
