A senior Japanese diplomat is due in Seoul Wednesday to discuss the issue of Japan's wartime forced labor of Koreans.
During his three-day visit, Shigeki Takizaki, director general at the Japanese foreign ministry's Asian and Oceanian affairs bureau, will meet Kim Jung-han, director-general for Asia and Pacific affairs at Seoul's foreign ministry.
It will be the two sides' first talks since Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga took office in September.
The visit comes ahead of a scheduled trilateral summit among South Korea, Japan and China set for this year in Seoul.
