Seoul's foreign ministry says it will seek a "creative" solution to resolve stalled individual tours to North Korea through close dialogue with the U.S.
The ministry's spokesman said Tuesday that South Korea has been working with the U.S. on various issues.
Seoul is said to be working with Washington to resume tours to Mount Geumgang in the North, as long as Seoul does not infringe on international sanctions.
On the same day, South Korea's unification minister nominee Lee In-young vowed to propose talks with the North at an appropriate time, calling tours a "creative solution."
Regarding his remarks on 'small-scale trade' with the North, the foreign ministry said officials should check thoroughly to see that it does not violate sanctions.
