Other than discussing defense cost sharing, Seoul and Washington's defense chiefs reaffirmed that they will not waver in pushing to transfer wartime operational control from Washington to Seoul.
During their phone talks on Tuesday, South Korean Defense Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and U.S. Secretary of Defense Mark Esper also discussed how to hold annual summertime military exercises amid coronavirus concerns.
It's widely seen that the exercises will be smaller in scale.
They also agreed to continue supporting diplomatic efforts toward peace on the Korean Peninsula, while maintaining military readiness and a combined defense posture.
