Updated: 2020-03-27 09:44:44 KST
The number of coronavirus patients in the United States has surpassed the number reported by China.
As of Thursday evening, a tally by Johns Hopkins University shows over 83-thousand infections in the U.S., which is around two-thousand more than China.
That's one patient for every 4-thousand people in the U.S., compared to one patient for every 17-thousand in China.
Starting Friday, all arrivals in South Korea from the U.S. are mandated to self-quarantine for two weeks.
Those who have coughs or fevers will be tested on the virus.
This comes as there has been an uptick in the number of imported cases from the U.S.
Those that do not self-isolate properly could face up to a year in prison or a fine of up to eight-thousand U.S. dollars.
