North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has again emphasized his drive to achieve a "self-reliant" economy that can withstand international sanctions on the regime.
The North's state media said he made made the comment in his first on-site visit of the year to a fertilizer factory that is under construction.
Kim also reportedly stressed that the construction of the factory in Suncheon, north of Pyeongyang, was one of the regime's most important projects.
Observers say the move was also a way for Kim to show confidence as leader amid South Korean reports that he might not appear in public as much after the U.S. killing of a top Iranian general.
