The Dow Jones Industrial Average edged up 49 points, or point-two percent to 26,252.
The S&P 500 edged down less than point-one percent to 2,923.
The Nasdaq lost around a third of a percent to 7,991.
In South Korea Thursday, the benchmark KOSPI dropped 13 point, or point-seven percent to 1,951.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ was down point-six percent at 612.
Oil prices finished lower.
