A Japanese daily reports that the decision by South Korean carriers, including Korean Air, to cut flights to Japan will hurt provincial tourism in the country.
The Sankei Shimbun attributed the suspension of some routes to lower demand caused to the strained diplomatic relationship between Seoul and Tokyo.
It said tour businesses in provincial areas would suffer as more than 60 routes to Japan from South Korea will see reductions.
The Japan Tourism Agency says about 560-thousand South Koreans visited Japan in July, down seven.six percent on year.
