Forty people have been killed and more than 130 injured in a collision between two passenger trains near the Egyptian city of Alexandria.
Officials say a train traveling to Alexandria from Cairo slammed into the back of another train that was waiting at a small station in the district of Khorshid.
An engineering team has been dispatched to identify the cause of the accident.
Egypt's passenger train network has a record of deadly crashes and collisions at signal crossings.
Friday's incident was the deadliest since 2012 when a train crashed into a school bus killing at least 50 people, mostly children.
