Joining us on the upcoming episode of G-Lounge is Ben Chung, who is on the Board of Directors of Cisco Systems, the world's leading networking technology company, and serves as the Manager of the Cisco Innovation Center in Songdo, the Republic of Korea.
In 2009, Cisco and Incheon Metropolitan City government signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing an innovation center in the Songdo International Business District. The Cisco Innovation Center was opened soon after, and it has been in the forefront of "digital innovation" in Korea ever since.
Our guest shares with us his knowledge of the Internet of Things (IoT), which he describes as a network of "things" such as devices and systems with sensors that can communicate and exchange data and information with one another via Internet connection. We will also get to learn about the application cases and solutions such as the lost child finder and the smart factory solution.
That's not all! We will get to delve into the topic of "digital transformation" or "digitization" which Cisco will be pursuing in 2016. Ben Chung says that "digitization" involves connecting devices, information and humans to achieve efficiency and better results. He also stresses that "digitization" is a broader concept compared to IoT.
Explaining that up to 50 billion physical objects will be connected to the Internet in 2020, Ben Chung also urges us to ask ourselves the potential impacts and implications of digitization on the world and mankind.
