Dreams Come True for Trevor from Kenya #7
Date : 2016-05-23
Trevor is a young man from Africa who dreamed of living in a country where it snowed. In 2012, that dream came true when he came to Korea.
In Korea, he got to step in snow for the first time and even try ice skating! His amazing journey began when he first learned about figure skating world champion Kim Yuna. Her determination and hard work was an inspiration for Trevor, who was trying to adjust to life in Korea. He studied Korean by reading her interviews, and eventually went on to win a Korean speech contest. He made many Korean friends, and got to try out winter sports. Kim Yuna became a bridge between Trevor and Korea. So for Trevor, the best way to travel in Seoul is to trace Kim Yuna's steps - and we tag along on his trip.
After becoming a fan of Kim Yuna, Trevor began to take a bigger interest in the Winter Olympics in general. It is now his next dream to watch the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, which Kim Yuna and many others helped come to Korea. Hence, he heads off to Pyeongchang, the city hosting the 2018 Winter Olympics. Trevor meets with the athletes training hard for the Olympics, and even gets to ride a bobsleigh. How do the Korean athletes inspire him?
While in Pyeongchang, Trevor also meets with the locals who spearheaded the three bids to bring the Winter Olympics to Pyeongchang. Trevor hears their stories about disappointment and success. Through his Pyeongchang trip, Trevor understands the significance of the Winter Olympics to the residents of the city and athletes like Kim Yuna. Find out the details when we join him on his trip!
