Ep.94 Ambassador of France to S. Korea, Philippe LEFORT
World Ch. Schedule : MON 22:30 KST
Date : 2020-03-31
France is a country where culture and arts such as music, art and architecture harmoniously mix together. Befitting this reputation, the architecture of the French Embassy in Korea is also quite impressive. The Embassy was built through a public contest for its design. The contest winner was one of Korea’s most renowned architect Kim Joong-up, who studied under famous French architect Le Corbusier. The Embassy was completed in 1963, earning praise that it combined Korean beauty with French elegance, and established itself as a symbol of bilateral architectural and cultural exchange. Meanwhile, the latest exchange in the film and education industries are noteworthy. Last year, with director Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” becoming the first Korean film to win the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival, exchange in the bilateral film industries are expected to be further enhanced. France, with its rich culture, philosophy and strong educational infrastructure, is also the country that attracts the most foreign students among non-English speaking countries. As such, the exchange between young and talented personnel of both countries merits attention. We’ll hear from Ambassador Philippe LEFORT who is actively looking for more ways to cooperate and increase exchange between the two countries.
