Dominican Republic taking climate action to protect forests and transition to renewable energy

World Environment Report: Diplomat Talks on Climate Change – 20
Located east of Hispaniola in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic boasts beautiful natural treasures. But now with climate change, all of it is under threat from rising sea levels and more frequent hurricanes. Recently, the Dominican Republic has fully launched into the direction of a low-carbon society by transitioning to renewable energy and recovering its largely reduced forest cover. Moreover, it's working together with the Central American region and the Caribbean islands to find a global solution to build its climate resilience. This week, we'll meet with Federico Alberto Cuello Camilo, the Ambassador of the Dominican Republic to Korea, to talk about the direction the Dominican Republic and the world should take to take stronger climate actions.
