World Environment Report: Diplomat Talks on Climate Change – 15
Dealing with climate change in a fair manner has become a priority for the global community. In 1997, the Kyoto Protocol outlined the "differentiated responsibility" of each country in dealing with climate change. And the Paris Agreement in 2015 also emphasized the role of developed countries to support developing countries in doing so. But there are still glaringly big gaps between countries' socioeconomic abilities to respond to climate change. Many African countries are especially vulnerable to climate change. In order to deal with this urgent issue, Egypt has gone beyond national efforts to solidifying bonds with other African countries to take stronger action as a whole continent. This week, we'll meet with the Ambassador of Egypt, Hazem Fahmy, to talk about the global community's task of taking fair and equal climate action.
