World Environment Report: Diplomat Talks on Climate Change - 3
Poland has long been reliant on coal-fired power as its main energy source, but now its biggest task at hand is to make a transition to renewable energy. As the quality of lives of its people were being directly impacted by the quality of air that was deteriorating with the use of fossil fuel, Poland has been taking strong measures to come up with a solution. The government is putting a lot of investment into achieving their goal to greatly reduce the consumption of coal by securing other energy sources including renewables by 2040. This week, we’ll meet with the Ambassador of Poland to S. Korea, Piotr Ostaszewski, to talk about Poland and how its government has been encouraging collaborations between the public and private sectors in technological research as well as utilizing all possible knowledge and human resources to come up with green solutions, and eventually transition into a low-carbon society.
