The South Korean government has been emphasizing the New Southern Policy since November of 2017. This policy aims to boost the Korea-ASEAN and the Korea-India relations to the standards of the four power nations. In the first half of his tenure, President MOON Jae-in visited all ten ASEAN nations as well as India. He talked about the New Southern Policy and showed a strong will for cooperation. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Partnership and it looks like the New Southern Policy will go into full effect.
On this week's Korea 4.0, we take a look at the achievements and importance of the New Southern Policy. We see the progress of the New Southern Policy in time for the fourth industrial revolution and take a look at the tasks at hand for sustainable development. We also focus on the ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit and the 1st Mekong-ROK Summit which will be held in Busan this November and see what kind of a role the New Southern Policy plays in boosting relationships.
