Semiconductor and the secondary battery industries see an increase in demand in the fourth industrial revolution. South Korea's semiconductor and secondary battery industries are making a prominent mark on the global stage. But in reality, the two industries are heavily dependent on foreign import of their core materials and manufacturing equipment. In particular, there are increasing signs that Korea should develop localized technology for the core components needed in semiconductor and secondary battery industries ever since Japan announced its export restrictions against South Korea.
On this week's #Korea 4.0, we see the present status of Korean technology by visiting a company that has developed localized technology and skills for the core components and manufacturing equipment needed for semiconductors and secondary batteries. In addition, we talk with industry personnel and see the tasks at hand and what needs to be solved for the localization of core materials and equipment.
