2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Korea-ASEAN dialogue relations. Over the last 30 years, the trading volume between the two sides has increased from US$8.2 to US$160 - ASEAN is Korea’s second-largest trading partner and third-largest investment destination, while Korea is ASEAN’s fifth-largest trading partner. In line with that, people-to-people exchanges have also developed from 1.09 million to 11 million, with nearly 9 million Koreans visiting ASEAN annually. In commemoration of the 30th anniversary, Korea hosts the 2019 ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit. Zoom in on the past, present, and future of Korea-ASEAN ties and how the two sides are expected to chart the next three decades of their partnership through this summit.
The 2019 ASEAN-Korea Commemorative Summit takes place for two days on November 25 and 26. To promote this grand, symbolic event, students from 5 ASEAN Member States teamed up together and produced a commemorative video. Meet them and check out their video to take a glimpse into their passion, vision, and dreams.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Korea-ASEAN dialogue relations, the special exhibition “ASEAN Crafts: From Heritage to the Contemporary” was presented at The Cheongju Craft Biennale.
