There are dogs that are specially trained for search and rescue activities. There are arson dogs that are trained to detect fire accelerants to determine whether a fire has resulted from arson or from a natural or spontaneous cause. There are also water search dogs including cadaver dogs that are trained to sniff out people who have drowned in water. Upon detecting a dead body in water, a cadaver dog barks to inform its human partners of the discovery and jumps into the water to find the body. They are able to fulfill these tasks thanks to their incredible sense of smell and, of course, years of training. Learn more about how these canine heroes are trained by tuning in this week!
