King Jeongjo was the 22nd Joseon monarch, bringing the greatest literacy and political revival of the late Joseon Dynasty. In 1795, the king made a historic visit to the tomb of his father, Crown Prince Sado, from Seoul to Hwaseong to honor his soul and to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Queen Haekyunggung Hong. In memory and celebration of the filial piety of the Joseon-era leader, citizens reenact his tomb parade every year. Take a glimpse of 2018’s reenactment.
