Ep.150 What will be S. Korea’s role and responsibility after the status upgrade?
The UN Conference on Trade and Development has recently reclassified S. Korea as a developed economy. The decision was made unanimously during the 68th meeting of the agency in Switzerland. S. Korea is now the first country to have moved from list A, consist of developing nations, to list B, which includes developed nations for the first time in the 57-year history of the UNCTAD. The elevation of S. Korea’s status is viewed as valid given that it is the sixth-largest Aid-for-Trade donor in the OECD. We bring in experts to discuss how S. Korea’s role and responsibility will change following its status upgrade.
