COVID19 has been declared a pandemic after it emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan four months ago. The number of cases outside China has surpassed the reported figures within China, the epicenter of the virus, as the cases started drastically spiking in Europe and the United States. While the world panics over the pandemic, South Korea is garnering attention with the infection rapidly slowing down and by maintaining a low fatality rate. South Korea once reported more than 900 new cases in a day, but there are now less than 100 confirmed cases day by day. It is also seeing more recovered patients than the number of newly infected people since March 13th. Due to these results, the number of foreign press praising South Korea’s measures is increasing. Also, countries around the world have started installing the drive-thru test centers, which originated in South Korea.
This week’s The Point takes a look at how the world is responding to the COVID19 pandemic and analyzes what South Korea’s quarantine systems, which are evaluated as a great model.
