The world is paying close attention to the U.S. and China as the two sides inked a phase one deal on December 13th. The agreement has brought a trade truce to the trade war between the two nations. The bilateral trade war ignited when U.S. President Trump ordered his trade representative to investigate applying tariffs on some 50 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods. In response, China imposed tariffs on 3 billion dollars worth of U.S. items.
The two sides have been imposing tit-for-tat trade measures for 21 months, adding uncertainties and adversely affecting the economy of the rest of the world.
This week, we will discuss how the latest outcome would affect South Korea, which experienced the biggest drop in exports among the ten biggest traders in the world due to the trade war.
