On July first, a day after the G20 Summit, Japan announced restrictions on exports to South Korea. Tokyo said it is revising its policy to curb exports of essential tech materials in producing TVs, smartphones‘ chips. The move is expected to damage domestic conglomerates as well as Japanese exporters. It could be read as Japan’s retaliatory measure against South Korean court’s ruling on forced labor victims.
