The summit between President Moon Jae-in and Donald Trump was held in Washington D.C. on Wednesday. This marks the seventh meeting between the two leaders and the first summit since the Hanoi summit took place. South Korea stressed the importance of cooperation and focused on restoring its status as a mediator and facilitator in the nuclear talks. The world also noted whether the talks will be able to produce a plan that could narrow the gap between Washington and Pyeongyang. Moon comprehensively agreed on a road map for complete denuclearization between the U.S. and North Korea and proposed that a phased easing of sanctions be made. On this week's [The Point: World Affairs], we discuss whether or not the meeting was successful and see if this can also work as a catalyst to propel stagnated talks between U.S. and North Korea. We also cover other issues including the conflict in Libya, controversy over Brunei's anti-gay law and the launch of 5G service in South Korea.
